Hi,

I use a Macintosh running OSX to organize and edit my photos. I recently purchased a Canon A80. I had previously been using borrowed an Olympus. With the Olympus, I was able to access the memory card contents as if it were a hard drive from the mac desktop when I connected the camera via a USB cable. With the Canon I have to use iphoto or some other piece of software. Is there a way to access the CF card in the Canon without using additional software or purchasing a card reader?

I want to be able to edit my photos, upload them back to the CF card in the camera and take the CF card to my local photo print shop.

Thanks for your help.

Mike

I do not think that is possible, also why would you not want to use a card reader/writer it does just this job and they are very cheap. not to mention about 40+ times faster.

cameras are for taking photos not a medium for transfering between card & Computer.

Thanks Terry,

I am new to Compact Flash and I did not realize thet a CF reader was so inexpensive and faster than using the camera itself. You are right about the use of the camera, I bought it for taking photos not as a data transfer device.

I will be purchasing a CF reader.

Hi Mike
you will not regret it, i have old ones USB 1.1 and they are lightning fast compared to the camera/computer transfer...but if you get the USB 2 versions they are 40X faster again (warp speed).

then consider Breezebrowser for downloading, i think you willl find nearly everyone on this forum useing it.
