Does anybody have a good Recommendation for a good flat screen monitor.

It looks as though my CRT monitor is going bad,and I have been thinking about buying myself a Flat Screen for Xmas. I'll be using it mostly for my photo stuff, Like printing and adobe photoshop.

Thanks for all the imput

Get another CRT. I have a 19' Trinitron and would never trade it in for an LCD. I have not been impressed with any of them when it comes to viewing photos. The problem is that they never look exactly right, the contrast is too high and highlights are blown out. CRT are the best thing IMO for photo viewing and editing...Dean

Right on. I have two 21" Sony GDM-F520s hung on a Matrox Parhelia 256 Calibrated with a Colorvision Spyder Pro. Nothing can come close to these CRTs, except perhaps Sony Artisans.

Whatever you get, calibrate them with a colorimeter. Otherwise you are wasting your time and money in frustration.

Stand away from the TFT's! The technology is fine for reading text and surfing the web, but they suck for processing photos. The only one I have hard anything good on is the Mac Cinema TFT and they're pricey. They'd have to pry my Trinitron from my cold, dead fingers before I'd replace it with the current TFT technology!

My Philips LCD monitor went dead on me less than a year after purchase. Although it's covered by a three year warranty it's a damn nuisance having to get out the old reliable CRT job and reconnect it up again. So reliabilty of LCD technology may be also an issue as well.

I have just bought a 23" Sony widescreen and it is superb for Photoshop as you can use the extra width for the menus etc. It beats the 21" Eizo that it replaced hands down though its high resolution can be a bit clinical in its representation of pictures.

All monitors go off over time, a 2 year old CRT will look very different from a new one, they also tend to loose sharp focus, particularly at the corners. LCD's tend to loose contrast over time so you pay your money and take your choice.

I bought the Mitsubishi DiamondPLus230SB (22inch CRT)

Simply fantastic with different Super Bright (SB) modes for pics or video.
