Taken today (Sept. 20th, 2006) within the one block area of all the Magic Sidewalk pictures. Taken with a Sony P200 point and shoot. Much better light than the ones from earlier this week but he was in the shadow of a tree.

I saw one of these on Sunday at a lake in our west end of the city. I can't imagine seeing one on the sidewalk in a city. Must be awfully tired to let you get so close. I had heard of these birds and others landing in cities along migration routes...nice captures of something most of us have never seen.

Very nice capture....especially with a point and shoot. Excellent sharpness and color.

The colour and detail are excellent on these shots, the low level shots looks good. With the Sony p200 camera you must have been pretty close to the bird, nice shots, well done.

Thanks for all the comments. The P200 is an amazingly capable camera with a Ziess lens. The biggest complaint I ever had with it was the tremendous depth of field even at small apertures. I simply can not get a good bokeh from a small-sensored P&S.

I really like the perspective in the second shot. Nicely done and creative.
