550EX owners, does your warranty card have the serial number imprinted? The rebate form implies that the serial number must be imprinted. The serial number on my card is blank.

Having just recently looked at mine (getting ready to update insurance). Mine was blank also, in fact I could not find serial number on unit either, but think I need to look in battery case again. I found a number, but it was the same on both 550EX flashes, so can't be serial number.
Moot point anyway as they made it past the 1 year warranty period this past month.

I'm not sure that this is the serial number, but it might be.
Put the 550EX into the normal position, then turn the flash head straight upward. Under the flash head, near the hinge, there is a number stamping in the black plastic.

They come with warranty cards? Guess I should dig out the box and send that in!

Sending in your warranty card generally only gets you junk mail. It's not like they're going to file it in the computer and just look you up. Besides, I think that the warranty statest hat the original receipt and warranty card must be presented for warranty.

Actually, here in California, we're protected from our own stupidity (go figure!) by state law. All warranties are enforced without the requirement to send in anything. If the date of purchase can be proved, the warranty can be enforced.
But then we also have those dumb-ass state laws that don't allow an employer to call an employee to see if they might someday come back to work . . .
