Well I took the plunge, I just bought a 3 month old D30
on ebay, it has the remainder of the original warranty left on it plus 3 years of mack coverage. It also includes a 340mb micro drive.
Now I can start to put into practice all of the tips and hints that I have picked up from this forum, and a couple of others that shall remain nameless!!
If any of you are up for some entertainment stop by the Canon DSLR forum on dpreview, The D60 bashing is in high gear!!
Personally I decided to pick up a D30 at a discount and put the saved money into a new flash and some new glass.

Why didn't you wait for the D60? I am just curious... I own a D30 and wondering if I were in your shoes, I'd definitely wait for the D60... unless I were to cover an important event.

I waited until the formal announcement of the D60 to see what the specifications would be. After seeing what was new and what wasn't I decided to pick up the D30 at a discount price because I didn't want to wait for the price to come down on the D60 and I didn't see enough of a change from the D30 to the D60 to justify the added cost of buying new.
I decided to let someone else pay for the initial depreciation of buying new and figured that in a year or two when canon fixes the auto focus ( the most common gripe I hear) I will be in a better position to upgrade both from a learning and usage standpoint as well as financially.
Also the few sample Images I have seen from the D60 other than being larger in size didn't impress me as much as the sample images I have seen from the D30. Who knows, maybe in a couple of months I'll kick myself for not going with 6mp instead of 3mp. In the mean time I have got a fantastic camera at what I think is a good price with 3.5 years of warranty to boot!!

I am sure you will love it the same way most of us D30-owners love our D30s.

Michael:
I am sorry if I am the bearer of bad news, but you might want to call Mack (973.467.2291) and talk to them about whether or not you will be able to use the remainder of the extended warranty. This may influence your decision as to whether or not you want your used D30 since you have basically purchased it "as is" versus having 2 1/2 years as you stated...
I say this because when I have purchased Mack warranties in the past, I always have to fill out the warranty card with my name and address, which tells Mack who purchased the warranty... but mostly because it states on the Mack warranty that... "Such service, repair or adjustement of the equipment is assured the original purchaser only..." [I took this off of my warranty card from my old EF 70-200/2.8 USM L]...
I purchased the aforementioned 7 year warranty with my 70-200/2.8 lens about a year and a half ago... when I went to trade in the lens towards the new IS model, I thought that having the extended warranty would help me with the trade-in value of the old lens... well as you can imagine, it didn't...

That's Cool! Too bad they won't do that on lens warranties... my lens warranty "7 Year Lens Warranty" it specifically states, "This limited warranty is not transferrable."
I wonder why they'll do it for cameras and not for lenses?

My 3 year lens warranty is transferrable. I think probably the 7 year warranties are not transferrable. Here's the link to all the current Mack warranties:
