Does anyone have the firmware file that they downloaded from the web site...oh so long ago?

I downloaded the file back in 2000, not long after I got my camera. But I never got around to doing the upgrade.

Since then I have gone through several PC upgrades, and I can't find that file to save my tail.

I called tech support, and they said I have to send the camera in now. They insist that they can not send me the file or mail it to me on CD now. One download is all you get, and they are not willing to budge.

This has been a GREAT camera, but my flash pictures could be better, and I understand the firmware corrects this problem. I should have done it when I had the chance.

If you have the file and wouldn't mind sharing it back to me...that would be awesome.

If no luck finding it, try writing a letter/email (giving model, serial number and current firmware version) to the manager of whomever you were talking to. They might be able to email the file to you, or somehow else help a customer stay happy with Canon.

What is the purpose of the "one download limit"? Doesn't sound logical. I can see one upgrade per firmware version (can't load the same firmware twice) but to limit the downloads? You should be able to download the file if accidently not used but erased or lost.

If you get no satisfaction, try their manager...
