The reason I became interested in digital photography is my daughter. Cheers on a competitive team, not the sideline stuff. I posted 2 pics b/c that's all I could upload. (Maybe someone could tell me how to do more than 2 pics?) This year, I'm looking into doing shots for the team. Any advice is appreciated and well as C/C

Well you can always host your shots somewhere like photobucket.com and link them here...EASY! Give it a shot!
Your daughter is cute, and definetly photogenic, Though the selective coloring in the first one doesnt work for me. I would also try to make the entire shot not cut her off (shoes) But she is young meaning you got plenty of time to practice. So keep at it!
The second shot, I feel should be more wide showing the enitre team, or more focused on her. If you did a whole team shot, selective coloring might work out. Selective color only your daughter, that would be pretty cool.
Good luck! and welcome to the forums!

Thanks for quick reply. Yes, the shoes are cut off because I had to crop out the stage, coaches head and others standing in front on me. Not sure how I could have done it otherwise, maybe cloning? I also tried shooting with 85 1.8 last year but it (or me) seemed to focus alot slower than 70-200, therefore I missed a lot of shot that competition. I guess for team shots, I could use my nifty-fifty but would need to do some serious cropping for individuals pics for the parents. I only have 1 camera and since there routines are only 3 minutes long, changing lenses is nearly impossible.

I wasn't aware of the cropping you had to do. Sounds like a crappy situation. So knowing that, I say you did REALLY well with that than!
3 minutes is quite limiting...Are the parents paying you? If so, I would rent a second body for these events...But 3 minutes might not even be enough time to switch camera...sounds like you really got your hands full...maybe ask for help?
I think group shots could be done on site, with a wide (enough lens). I would do individual shots of each maybe at a studio or soemthign similar like you did with your daughter.

No, the parents aren't paying me because I have only shot pics for my own pleasure to this point. I'm hoping the parents will like shots enough to pay. I misspoke earlier about the cropping of other people,i have included the original picture (confused it with others taken). I'm not a professional, there is no site, just a stage if lucky usually 30-50 yards away in a dimly lit arena. I wish I had a studio to shoot pics, for now just me and my camera.

I highly recommend ditching Adobe RGB and sticking with sRGB. Adobe RGB is great for commercial prints to include magazines, but for internet and standard use printing sRGB is the way to go.

Shooting indoors is a real challenge especially if your subject is far away or you can't use flash due to rules at an event. There is a recent post here in Sports about the 85mm 1.8 of those who use it like it's focusing speed. I got good results with my 70-200 shooting a ballet in a large theater. I had to experiment with wide open f stops, ISO, and shutter speed. I used a mono-pod and turned on the IS, which was a must. I used Noise Ninja, which I'm still learning to use, to smooth out the graininess.
Don't be afraid to charge parents for the images (disk or prints). It will help off-set future accessories you may want later :).
