I came across a couple of easy to follow articles on Adobe RGB, sRGB, and color management last night and thought someone might find them useful:

While some of what Crockett writes is sensible, he is wrong on two keys points:
- DLSRs do not only capture images in sRGB colour space
- there are plenty of printers capable of printing gamuts larger than sRGB
If you follow blindly Crockett's advice, you will unnecessarily restrict the colours you can capture and print.
His suggestion that using sRGB makes your workflow more efficient is facile in my less than humble opinion. If you have a sensible colour-managed workflow, then I don't believe your choice of working space adds or removes one jot from its efficiency.

Regards,
Thank you for your well respected opinion. I visit your web page fairly often.
I shoot and print in Adobe RGB (1998 ), using Epson ICC profiles with an Epson 2200. I have been very happy with my results. The issue of the Printer Gamut of inkjets being smaller then that of digital cameras was also raised in the magazine Photographic Techniques.

Scott,
I've just reread my post and think I should maybe aplogise for the tone. :) Having said that the sRGB-only advice was discussed and comprehensively hammered a lot less politely on the Rob Galbraith forums.
I think you're doing the right thing, and I think Crockett is guilty of dumbing down.

Interesting articles. I dont see however why using Adobe RGB is any less efficient than sRGB especially with something like a 10D that works in Adobe RGB anyway. His example picture was quite limited by its content as to its colour space. Other subjects would show very differently. I just dont see any advantage in restricting your working colour space by using sRGB.
