mmm i think you can probably do better for your money.
just throwing a link out there - www.laptopsdirect.co.uk has good deals sometimes. just make sure you're not getting something thats out of date.
on the other hand, get one of these (http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/6474042/wo/lo3XaHusKVAF3smQTQDGSOBWWwS/0.PSLID?mco=32B42242&nclm=MacBook):) go on its only a little more! and so good... hehe.

I got my laptop for photography, and the 3 most important things are video card, memory and hard drive space, get as much of all 3 as you can afford

memory can be upgraded later, for a cheaper cost than the manufacturer will give to add it.
id also try and get a good screen, i love the screen on my 15" powerbook, best ive used. i wouldnt recommend going for a glossy screen... never liked them. i can only imagine the new macs have even better screens.

don't think so....when I was looking for a used lappy, the main criteria were: pentium M, nvidia/ati gfx controller WITH ITS OWN MEMORY, and 512 or more ram. managed to fulfill those, and runs ps7 fine on battery.
just looked at those 2 you linked to....celeron Ms? urgh, no thankyou.

I am used to building PCs etc. Just a word of warning though because of something strange that happened last year...
I was installing some new memory - purchased new. I installed it correctly and powered up. Fortunately I'd left the case open. The system didn't power up and I smelt a burning smell. I looked inside and saw a trickle of smoke rising from the new ram. At the base of the trickle was a yellow glow. The damned memory had caught fire! I powered off, pulled the card out and was rather glad I hadn't closed the case before powering up otherwise the complete computer might have caught fire and real flames rather than a glow. Anyway, I had a refund on the ram and about 3 months later the computer started acting up. Then eventually the mainboard died. That's the strangest thing I've ever had happen. I've had DOA ram, DOA CPUs, DOA hard drives etc but never anything that caught fire before.
Just a thought - if it's installed by your supplier then the whole lot is warrantied.
