I use my Canon D10 for my dental office. Taking pre-op and post-op pictures of work I am doing. Macro 100 mm lens and ring flash. (Incredible shots, btw. The mouth looks like a black cave through the viewfinder. Snap the picture and viola- clear as if I'm standing on the tooth in front of the one being photographed!)

Color accuracy currently seems off when printing to a Canon i850. I have looked into color management topics, but wonder...

Should I forgo the i850 and purchase a Canon i960 for more accurate color rendition or is there some tweaking to be done that can impove the i850 currently being used.

I can justify the new purchase if it will make a difference, so please, a little help here...

I typically print directly from EasyPhoto Print.

the 4 or 5 pixs i printed to my refurb'ed 850 was a little off on the colors too. like they were washed out. and this was using canon's pro gloss top o the line paper.

i havent played with the color settings yet.

The proper profile would make all the difference in the world. I have not used an i850, although I do have a brand new one in a box sitting here. From what I have heard it is a very capable printer and should fit your needs. In addition there will be many settings you can tweak to help color rendition. The i960 is, of course, a better printer, but I don't think it's needed.

As an aside, I have several HP printers and an Epson 2200. The Epson 2200 also printed with colors washed out until I got the proper profiles and color/brightness/contrast tweaks and now it's awesome!
