View Full Version : 10D not connecting to Mac

Finally took the plunge and upgraded my D30 for a 10D (last Friday on a trip to NYC).

Not had much chance to compare images from the two, but I like the focussing on the 10D and a few other handling features, so am happy with that side of things.

Just tried to download some images, however, and the camera is refusing to connect.

When I launch ImageBrowser, it doesn't detect the camera on the USB setting. Simply leaves the "Detected Camera" box blank and leaves "busy" flashing on the camera's top LCD.

Have tried all combos of connecting the camera, switching it on etc. Have restarted the Mac (using OS X 10.2.8 btw) to no avail.

The cable and software are OK, I think. I have an Elph 400 and that connects fine.

Oddly, when I first installed the software the camera connnected OK.

Any other ideas before I have to admit that there's a fault on the camera? If I get time I'll try it on a PC too, but am fearing that the USB connector is faulty.

All other functions appear to be working fine.

Thanks in advance for any input/ideas. I'll also try posting on the software forum.

Have you tried using Image Capture? Set Comunication on the camera to PTP (rather than Normal).

I never connect my camera to the computer. Just buy a flash card reader for $25 and you are all set. I think its a faster method too.

Have you installed the 10d software instead of the D30? I had that problem...

Have been away from the camera for a few days, and the forum. Thanks for the replies.

On my way out of town my other half asked if I'd set the camera up to communicate with the Mac at all...I was just explaining that it worked out of the box and then remembered that I *had* actually been "playing".

I'd changed the "Communication" menu setting TO PTP from "Normal".

I just switched it back to "Normal" and lo, it worked seamlessly again...

Happy once more and I should get back to technology basics again rather than being a smart arse (ass).

Hoorah! All is happy once more in the world of the 10D.

Thanks again to all who replied.
