Bad merchants advertising on POTN?

Has anyone else noticed that BestPriceCameras.com constantly shows up in the forum window? Not that it matters because I know better, but you would think that a forum dedicated to providing canon customers with the best resources would avoid having this appear.

the sponsored links provided by google that show up at the top every once in a while.

Ahhh IC well no sponsored links show up for me here on Firefox. But I don't think POTN has any say whatsoever in what ads Google throws up there.

weird. i use firefox too but I've always seen these ads. And yes I agree that POTN has no control over what ads appear - it's google associating the most relevant links.

People who have made monetary contributions to POTN or bought from the POTN store do not get these ads displayed on their screens but the rest of the public do get them.

I think one of the perks (if I remember correctly) of being a Goldmember is not seeing the ads.

I don't remember ever seeing them though....but that doesn't mean they weren't there...so you could be right.

I emailed google about those guys, and honestly, they didn't seem to concerned with the fact that every review I saw about them was really bad. I believe I sent them a link to one reveiw site.

I have to admit that bothered me.

Interesting because I have contributed money to the site and bought form the POTN store and I still get the sponsored site box at the top of every page.

The box that interrupts in the middle of the page only appears if I'm not logged in. Would be ideal to rid myself of the top sponsored site box but I'm in no posting rush to make it happen.

google ads can be useful. I wouldn't mind seeing them - I actually disable Adblock Plus on POTN anyway.

One concern that I have when I see them is that a newbie might mistakenly assume that, since BestPriceCameras.com is "featured" on POTN that it must be okay; and get snookered by them.

Yea, that's too bad. You think POTN would take ads from more reputable retailers.
