Can you use natural light instead of flash?

I tried and when I did the pictures came out to dark. So I turn the flash back on.

Can you take another set of photo during day time, and put your squirrel next to a natural light source? Unless you use external flash and bounce to the ceiling/wall, I think you should avoid using flash to take pics of your pets.

Ok I will give it a try can you tell me maybe what settings to use? with out flash. Thanks
