i got it yesterday but rain ,bright today though for a while so i went to give it a try :)
well its very very sharp - very very fast - gives very very nice color - and im very very very happy with it :D
Girl is a candid while i was waiting for a duck never got one 1/2000sec f 2.8 iso200
BUT got a Swan 1/750 f4.5 iso 200

not yet only had it a day but i get the feeling it will be close ,i will be testing it with the 1.4 and 2x ef's next week if the weather lets me .

Bad choice in lenses. I feel bad for you, so send it to me right away and I will send you the unbeatable 50mm F1.8 including lens cap.:lol: ;)

After the 500 there is probably only one lens to go to....yup, the 300 f/2.8. All the best and finest that Canon knows how to do went into that lens. Plus one can carry it and actually hike with it too even if not particularly well endowed ;) with body strength.
The woman walker is very nice, the swan is sharp despite bad light you had on him.
