I have C1 DSLR LE, version 1.2. I received a newsmail today saying that I can upgrade to 1.3 free. I have downloaded the zip file, but I'm a bit worried about installing because it does not mention on the actual site that it is free.

Has anyone done this upgrade? Any problems to watch out for?
Thanks

I checked with Phase One's site and it is a free maintenance upgrade.

It adds support for the 300D. I grabbed the update but have not installed it yet. If it isn't broke why fix it is how I operate.

Take care,

Thanks Tony, I quite agree with the above. I have the 10D so don't need the 300D part, but apparently it also installs code which automatically scans for any new upgrades/versions and lets you know about them. That might come in handy. Ach.... I'm going to give it a go, I'm a sucker for new software.......so I'll let you know if I get into dire straits!

What do you think of the upgrade to C1 SE? Not sure that I need it, but it provides an upgrade route to a Pro version in the near future seemingly.

Here is the site with instructions and more information on the upgrade:

I have just upgraded and everything seems fine.

If I were going to upgrade to a 1D or 1Ds I would snatch this up. And if I had the cash I would upgrade to a 1D at this time.

But my trusty D30 is still cranking along and I can use my money for other things.

As far as checking for updates, I do that on a regular basis myself. I noticed the file size was smaller than my 1.2 version so I'd like to know what was removed.

Take care,

The LE 1.3 upgrades installs into a different directory by default, so you can keep 1.2 going just in case.

To activate on-line you need the product key from your origjnal purchase. You just enter the key and away you go.

Everything seems to be fine. They claim to have opitmised some processes and improved colour rendition as well as unpseicifed bug fixes.

There is one gotcha as they have changed the default tone curves, so all the existing work files will be misinterpreted. You can check this thread for the full gen:

Seems like someone made a daft decision under time pressure.

Just make sure to type in the product key. I did a cut and paste from the product key e-mail and it didn't take. You have to type the four four-letter groups to get the 'registration' button to work.

I monkeyed with this for 30 minutes before I found what I was doing wrong. Go figure...
