Next week, the top 4 teams from North, play top 4 from South, for State Championship. We, of course, are #1 Seed.
In today's championship game, we had a 2-0 lead, in bottom of last..and gave up a run. Next bases were loaded...it's 2-1. Pitcher calls meeting...facial expressions tell the story

Senior pitcher, had an elbow in pain, pitched two games..on sheer guts.

And we did provide some offense for her

These closeups are great...

Wish we could see the fallen socks of the pitcher.

Third one is my fav.

Which lens did you use? What State is this in?

Keep posting these action shots...

Ah no wonder, the deep suntan shows in the huddle, (right-most player), apparently the rest of the team doesn't have to face the direct sun light other than the catcher...

Post as much action as you can, we are all waiting...

Re: the lens, I'm gathering info on the long end L lenses for my own application to birding, wildlife and eventually sports too.

Thanks for your reply...

John,
Actually on the backlit shot and pitcher windup, I was using a 70-200 f/2.8 (non IS). I'd forgotten I'd switched lenses. I did use the 300 f/4 on the batter. Sorry I'd forgotten, just wanted to be accurate in my reply.
I like the 70-200, but it depends on whether I can get field access or not, if I use it. In this case, I was shooting from the dugout..so didn't need a 300 f/4 on a 30D.
Earlier I'd shot the batter from the other side of the dugout, with 300 f/4.
The 300 f/4L IS, is a real gem. Don't let my photos disuade you from trying this lens. It's a far better lens than what I can show at this point. In the hands of a really good photographer..it would really shine!
