I had a pretty good day today as far as captures but a very bad day on focus. Keeper ratio was real bad probably 5% and of course all the good ones were in the other 95%.

Am I just asking too much from my XT and it's AL Servo? I've come to not expect real good things from it but today I missed some real good ones so I was a little po'ed.

Here are a few that did come out but even these had to be sharpened quite a bit. They were saved for web so exif is: 70-200 2.8, iso 100, TV at 1000, tried to get to F4 but most were shot wide open, to 3.5. Thanks for any input.

Heavely cropped (need a 400 :) )and sharpened.

It's a little difficult to guess at this point. Are you using center point focus? It almost looks like the focus went to the hi contrast players in the background. Is the XT capable of assigning focus to the * on the back? As a starting point for me whether it is AYSO or college soccer: AV wide open, iso 100 or 200, white balance depends on the weather. Bright sun like you had will give you ss @1/2000 or above.

Yes it is center point and I have the * button as my focus.
