Dante, this lens is calling you: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=800491951&is=USE&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation. I'm so confident that you'll like it that I'm willing to bet you. Say $50?
Cheers!

I see it more as Calicokat's lens.
Anything over 85mm is really not Dante King's game.;)

I thought Dante's switching on primes lately. I read somewhere he sold the 3 highest quality canon zooms he had to finance a prime. What a jerk. :(

Well Tareq, those rich guys think differently than you and I. They have so much money that sometimes they buy a lens only to stash it in a closet "just in case" they need it. Now, imagine that.

C'mon, busterboy, just joking. Looks like it didn't catch. Should've put there a laughing smiley instead, that way at least it wouldn't be taken seriously.

Dante and Ronaldo appear to be in a business meeting this morning.;)
I have a hunch it is Ronaldo who will come out of it signature-enriched by a 300 f/2.8.:D
Great lens no doubt, just that some copies are not as good as the rest when it comes to fine contrast and detail. That's a real shame when you think about the price.....$3,200 for a well used one, $3,900 for new.

I disagree, if i have lots of money then i will buy most L's wether i need them or not.
just when i don't have something i say that i will not take photos, for example when i did't have any long zooms i said i will never do wildlife or sports, now with 2 tele zooms i can say i love wildlife and soon sports.
thats why i want to buy alot of gears as much as i can.

Dante, while you're absent, people are discussing everything here about you, including, but not limited to: what lenses you should/or not buy, what lenses you shouldn't have sold, even your financial status was gently touched on. :D
Folks, the reason I mentioned this to Dante is because in a couple of threads him and I spoke about this lens, and now seeing it at 10 with about $400 or so off sounds like a real good deal to me. I know he'll like it, thus willing to bet a $50.

tareq - why do you have the 17-35 and the superior 16-35? and why the Sigma 70-300 and the 100-400L?

Well apparently I am a jerk. There is kind of a consensus on that going around. You be the judge. Its ok to think what you like. I dont look to other people for self affirmation.
Why yes I did sell some zooms, which I believe happen to be canons best to finance a prime. I had handpicked a 16-35, 24-70 and 70-200 2.8 IS and sold them to get a 300 2.8. Thing is that these lenses were just hanging around collecting dust. Made sense to sell them off to fund other paths of exploring this great hobby. I quickly found that selling my 24-70 was a mistake and I should have 1 mid range zoom in the bag for unknown shoots and a 1 lens only event.
Do I regret selling these to fund the 300? HA! never. the 300 is super sweet glass!!!
Chancellor, the 28-300 seems quite nice. I loved my tammy 28-300. my concern with this glass is the compromise of design. Might change my mind if I actually got to handle one. Well see. For me the 50 1.2 is next on the horizon.

Just not sure what you were thinking selling the others to buy this without first consulting this fine group of people.;)

Hell that is easy. just go get puddlepirate's wallet. Take out a CC. Call BH with a deep voice. Say I would like a 300 2.8 shipped overnight. BAM!

Congratulations ! I know that's one fab macro lens although a bit tough to use handheld. What I'd like to find out is how it compares against 200 prime and zooms as a portrait lens.
Anyway boys, let me use this opportunity to remind you that your photoassignments are in arrears.
