My vote is nothing - any more new DSLRs will be introduced at PMA in March.
I might wish otherwise, but my gut feel is no 30D replacement until PMA - Canon wants to drive up sales of the XTi/400D.
Have Fun,

Exactly, that is what I think as well. Canon is done for this year. We had all better start saving up now (or pay off dept) before it all begins next year again ;)

I vote that they'll release an upgrade of the 1Ds MkII. How can the flagship camera not have a 2.5" LCD? How can the flagship not have the best high ISO performance?

I'm in for maybe a few point and shoots.
While I would like to see a new 1Ds body I doubt that this is where Canon is concentrating on right now. They will concentrate their marketing efforts where they have competition biting at them and it is not in the full frame and high megapixel market.
The 1DsMKII could use some updating in the respect of noise management but I think that you have to look at how this body is used and by whom. It obviously is the high end and I would think it is more geared towards those that shoot in studio or commercially. How much high ISO do these photographers really do.
Assuming that the bulk of the photographers using the 1Ds series are experienced photographers how many of them are using the lcd for anything much beyond viewing the histogram. I personally don't use the lcd for looking at the image itself but use the histogram as a reference. The smaller lcd is fine for that purpose by itself. I do have bodies with the larger lcd and you still cannot tell if the color balance is nailed or if the image is soft unless you take the time to sit down and zoom in on it.
A company only has so much in the way of R&D and marketing resources and if they don't have someone biting at their heels on this level of body, I would see them putting their efforts to stave off the competition at levels where they do.

I personally feel that Canon is slipping in it's marketing and products. They were comfortably at the top for a while but had made many mistakes allowing competitors to come too close to them. They should go back concentrating on quality of their products. One of the things I would like to see in their camera (ALL OF THEM) should have a huge buffer like Nik*n's D70.

Inspiration as caused me to pick the 3D. If I'm going to be wrong, I might as well do it with style.

Everything they plan to release this year has already been anounced.
I'll be back to this thread to gloat later.

I would think that given no announcement from Canon, it will be Nikon, Sony, Pentax, and even Sigma that will be gloating the most. You simply can't remain a leader if you let your competition catch up with you on the most popular levels. Even if that "catch up" is nothing but an illusion created by the slick marketing of minor features.
From a strictly business standpoint, Canon isn't competing enough.

I agree, to me it looks like Canon in the past has been sitting back and watching everyone else come up but now there is a lot more competition and for them not to do anything, I think could hurt them in the long run...
