Long story but bear with me...

Purchased a EOS 300D last week and thought i would toddle along to Oldham Athletic (small second division club) and take some photos. Paid my £16 entrance fee, got to my seat and took my first pic. One of the security blokes then came up and told me I wasn't allowed to take photo's and would have to put the camera away (rules and regulations). Apparently you need a FA license to take photos. I was furious, walked out and got my money back.
If this is the case then Canons advertising in every magazine in the UK is wrong as it has hundreds of people taking photos at a football match.

You should send the camera back and ask Canon for a refund as well.

What is an FA license and what does it cost?

Here in the US, some concerts have photo restrictions. But it says right on the ticket, "No Cameras". Others have a "No Video" restriction. A few years ago I owned a Canon Photoura, which looked like a video camera but was a fancy point and shoot 35mm. I actually carried the manual with me to prove it was a still camera, so I wouldn't get booted out of those "No Video" events.

Is it possible that the Security guard thought you were a pro?

Did you check at the ticket office to make sure he was right? Sometimes the Renta-Cops exceed their authority, or don't understand the rules.

But, yeah, like the last poster said, if you believe that Canon had anything to do with it, you should return the camera and get your money back! :)

:D I dont think it's Canons fault i got kicked out but there advertising needs looking at. If it's the case at other football grounds then the advert is misleading.

The ticket office said the security guy was right to not allow me to take photos but they couldn't show me where it says this. They had to get the security guy to take me back into the stadium and show me where it was,two floors up on an a4 sized paper stuck on a wall.
