Alright..this was my second wedding..A very good family friend of my husbands. It was a favor...we were not paid. It was a very tense, stressful wedding. The couple had no pictures together ...ever! They had never even been allowed to talk on the phone let alone see eachother. The day before the wedding I asked them to take engagement pictures so I could add them in a slide show ( I live on a differenet island so I flew in the day before). They were soooo uptight..they barely would touch.. no way on kissing..I wasn't sure what to do plus the groom was cooking all the food so we couldn't get them away until almost dark. At the ceremony the dad decided he was not going to walk his duaghter down the isle..kind of a sad thing. The yard that they had it in had old junky cars all around...not my first choice for a site. After we had 15 minutes with the bride and groom alone..origanally they said one hour but then after the ceremony they changed their mind. All in all I did what I could. I know that they are happy with the pictures. Funny thing is..I was so stressed during it all but I realized I love it!! Am I crazy?..Capturing all of the emotion is what its all about! I know I still have alot to learn. Anyway here are a few pics.....Aloha Kim

Aloha!
Nice pics. Just wonder for picture #2 the couple seems a bit dark. Were you using a polarizing filter? May be that would helped darken the skies for a better exposure.

I wasn't using a filter  ..the sun was setting on the other side of the island so it was getting dark out. Next time I will use fill flash. Thanks for the comments..Aloha

Wow, what a day. Doesn't sound like fun at all. I think the photos came out pretty nice. My favorite is the B&W in the car. If you have photoshop, you might want to straighten the photo a bit. It seems a little off. I also like number 4.

Probably not the answer you were looking for. ;)

If you shoot RAW you can do two conversions, a darker one for the sky and a brighter one for the subjects, then use layers to combine the two.

So, was this an arranged marriage? Besides the chairs, I love #4. Maybe for #2 you could darken them more so it looks intentional? I don't know, something to try. Also, I don't mind if the car one is a little crooked. You did well to hide the ugly yard.

Is there still such a thing as arranged marriages in the US? OMG the stress! I had a hard enough time getting married to someone who's been my best friend for 3 years, let alone someone I had never seen or even talked to! Bravo on the pics, you wouldn't be able to tell that was the case.

Thanks Guys..It was not an arranged marriage..their families grew up together but the brides family didn't care much for the groom once he showed interest in their daughter :)...Aloha

What a challenging situation! Nice pictures though. I have just been trying something to help with the sky shots. Shoot in tv mode and keep it at a fast shutter speed with fill flash. This should keep the sky the right color.
