(What is the difference between the QRS and a QRS-35?)
If I get the bent arm.........what will I be losing compared to the stright arm?
It's bent so it can be use with the ST-E2 in the verticle positon right?
Is that the only benifit?
Or should I just go with the stright arm?
Thanks!
Alex

It says that is has about 2 inches more clearance. I am sure that is for the battery pack added to the camera. If you dont use that then I would go with the straight one. Im not 100% sure that is what the extra clerance is for thou. I dont think you will be losing anything getting the bent arm if anything you are gaining the ability to have the battery grip pack on your camera. Call B&H and ask them. :D

Right now I have a 20D with Grip..........................maybe 1mk2N in the future......
So, it sounds like the EV for me.
Any ideas on the camera plate......looks like a couple to choose from

Not sure I clicked the note in the features to see wich camera mount bracket that bracket works with. I am sure they would not sell it if it did not let you get full motion with the camera. As to quick release no clue sorry

I see U use the b/m RC2's
There is supposed to be a "plate" that goes on the bottom of the bracket........
and U are supposed to be able to use one where the camera attaches to the "rotater"
I'm about to put one together and want to get all the right pieces.........

Yah but I dont have that bracket. It says that you can mount the tripod plate to bottum to quick release from tripod. I dont see anything about quick camera release from bracket thou. I see where it says quick release but I think they are talking about the locking system for rotating the camera in the bracket it self. If I was you I would call B&H talk to them and find out all the ins and outs. :D

I think this is what I am looking for:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=149686&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation
It has a threaded mount on the bottom which attaches to the camera plate.
Any one out there use this set up?

Went to a local shop today..........
Got to "touch" most of it.
I bought some of the accessories there........
But the bracket it self was $40 bucks cheaper shipped through B&H

It's the best bracket that I have "Touched"
I'm sure there are others out there that may just be as good.
At first I thought the angle of the handle was In The Wrong Position.
When lifted to your eye...............you wrist is at the perfect angle.
I have the grip on my 20d...........so the camera plate also acts like a anti-twist plate.
I thought about putting on a B/M quick release.............but decided against because it would have shifted the axis the lens will rotate on.

Does the foot from the camera plate get in the way in the vert position?
I know it helps to keep the bracket "balanced" when in the resting position

no, not at all. it's very quick and doesn't get in the way. also, when shooting skateboarding, the bent handle works well to hold the camera down low.
btw i no longer have the siggie 500 - thanks to the thieves who work for airport security (i'm now convinced Schapelle was framed...). fortunately i had already picked up a 580 and SQ is replacing my other flash (and fixing my bag)

question about mounting the flash.
The arm that is screwed into the upright.
Does it ever move? I know there is a cork washer.....................
So, you want tho keep it level with the top of the camera right?

it did move a tiny bit. if you look at my photo above, you can see a little dark looking washer-like thing on the flash side of the arm. it's actually a piece of old mousepad rubber cut as a little washer. now it doesn't move at all.
when the camera rotates, the flash is always over the lens. yeah, you pretty much want to keep it level.

Cool,
I thought about adding a quick release the bogen has, it would mount between the camera and the camera mounting plate.
Then I realized that it would add about 3/4 of an inche in height.
That would change the axis on which the camera rotates...............
I don't think it would be a noticible change it I when that route.
Since there is quite a Large knob on the camear mounting plate, I decided to do without. If I see myself taking the camera off a lot, then I might try the AR plate.
The QR from bogen is the RC2 which would also allow me to slap it right on to my tripod which also has the RC2 system.
Any do's and dont's with this bracket?
i.e. don't mount the flash like this or this works better for holding the off shoe camer cord...................that kinda stuff.
BTW thanks for the "use an old mouse pad as a washer trick"
