View Full Version : Free text description being overriden when image is resized

Pekka,
When I upload and resize automatically, the free text info always ends up as "File written by Adobe Photoshop¨ 5.0." I assume that's somewhere in the exif data. Is there anyway to make sure that it's using the default free text info that I'm specifying? Thanks.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Sorry for delay, Andy,
What you have encountered is something that I will have to deal in EE code in future version. Currently EE will use EXIF description data if there is something to be used. So, if you have there "file by Adobe" that will override what you have in defaults.
Check if you can disable this "File written by Adobe Photoshop 5.0." text in Photoshop itself - perhaps there is some default text to be added there (if there is, add nothing there).

Thanks for the info Pekka. The holidays are crazy for everyone, so I'm sure that yours are no exception. I'm sure there must be some kind of program out there that can strip the exif out of the file before I upload it.

Pekka,
I just wanted to add one thing that may or may not be helpful for tracking this down in the future. When I upload the image to the UPLOAD folder, the list showing all the files in the UPLOAD folder does not include an X under the EXIF, just under IPTC. So, maybe it's coming from the IPTC and not from the EXIF? Just a thought.

OK, thanks.
If you disable IPTC in graphics modules page then it is not read on upload.

I've tried all 3 profile removal commands (2 result in a proper image, 1 flat out doesn't work), and it still gets through. I've found that if I open and resave the file in Elements 2.0 it works ok. Maybe something weird that PS 5.0 is doing?

The profile command does not affect it. Choose the profile command which produces 3K size image.
Do first the IPTC test on same page (dropdown menu), and the choose the red button. That is the way to disable a 'module'.

Pekka,
You are a god among mortal men. Many thanks.
The only thing I can think of that would make this software even better would be the ability to select categories as part of the default photodata.
