Has anyone worked out the f stops of dynamic range for the rebel digital?

What a great question...
I suppose it is the same on the 10D or at least very close. I understand that Digital may have less DR than most film...???

but you can increase dynamic range thanks to raw conversion...

It's roughly the same as slide film, possibly half to one stop more.
Definitely nowhere near that of neg film.

Current RAW convertors seem to get around 8 stops and there is probably room for improvement.

7-8 stops seems to be the consensus among the vraious sources I've read, with slides coming in at 5-6 and colour neg film at 10-11.
Of course, there are techniques that create increased dynamic by combining images that digital can take advantage of.

This is one of the things i'll be learning in the coming weeks and months.
Hey these DSLR's sure are great value if you like fussing over all the nuances of ones camera-they sure are complicated!
