Just curious about a majority of you wedding shooters.

uh oh...well, at least it's in poll form!
RAW, for sure. I'm not good enough to shoot jpeg only yet!!

Here we go again.
RAW, because I don't see the point in not using it and I can actually get a faster workflow.

Both. I shoot the formal, posed or set up photos RAW and everything else jpg. Maybe if I had more memory cards I would shoot more in RAW but so far this set up has worked for me.

Raw + sm. Jpeg. I use the sm. Jpeg's as the proofs

Up to this point, jpg only.
But I'm gonna give RAW another shot... along with small JPG. Gonna use it for slideshows just like coreypolis is saying....
corypolis... were you in the situation like me who was convinced by david jay to show slideshows at receptions? we had lunch together and he kept harping on me to do this. I thought I'd give it a shot considering his successful history. How has it worked for you?

I might go with coreypolis' idea if and when I ever do slideshows on the spot, but right now... only RAW for weddings.
The main reason is because of my workflow. I, like many pro's, batch my conversions. In each scene or lighting change, I usually use a reference shot with a whibal or white balance reference of some kind and do my conversion on that one file, save the profile in ACR and then I batch EVERYTHING in that scene/lighting within Adobe Bridge. Then I convert them to JPEG from bridge as well. I have a standard action in photoshop that performs all of my tasks and saves the converted and finished JPEG's to a set directory. Now... when I shoot, I like to overexpose slightly. Not to where I blow out the highlights... just a ¼ to ½ stop over. Then when I profile the WB reference frame in ACR, I can pull the exposure slider down to normalize the photo's exposure to where it would have been had I not overexposed. When I save this conversion to a profile, I can apply the same settings to the frames taken from this scene. I do this intentionally because this really cuts down on digital noise in the shadow areas and part of my workflow in the action, I like to open up the shadows, and cool the highlights a slight bit. If I exposed dead on where I should have to get a well exposed JPEG, I can't do this without opening myself up to digi-noise in the shadows.

follow DJ's advice to the T and you'll be greatly rewarded :D
emotional attachment is the key to it all, plus having the wedding guests be your salesman

yes, but I was just wondering if you have done this yourself and if it has been worth it to you...
and DJ is all about oursourcing everything. He's even considering outsourcing the processing of all his photos. I dunno if I'm ready to do that....
And my RAW workflow sucks. I hate RAW so this new workflow had better work REALLY well. I usually don't have to touch any of the jpegs that I'm not adding effects to. But processing every single file just seems daunting to me.

it works well and can really create a buzz if done well. I don't have the time or tnergy to mingle with all the guests, so haveing business cards with the couples picture and information about where to see the finished show/ordr prints etc on a card next to the show.
I can't imagine he'd outsource actual editing, he's already got it down to under 2 hours. He does let albumsesque do the albums, and pictage do the rest, so after that night he's effectively done with the couple. Its definetly one strategy, but if you can't grow they way he did, then you also may lose out on getting repeact customers as there family grows if you are into shooting family portraits and the like.
Try Lightroom out, you can make a preset for the editing of the photo, and apply it to which ever ones you want. I basically had a outdoors and a indoors and a getting ready preset, and thats all you had to do for editing. Select the group, "develop" one preset, apply it, and dync it to the rest of the photos you want.
