Went and bought a 5D today, all I can say is WOW!

Viewfinder is HUGE, pictures are GORGEOUS everything I've read about this camera is true.

Looks like the 30D is going to be relegated to "backup" body and the 5D used exclusively from now on.

Oh, one bad thing, I need to save for the BG-E4 now. Have gotten so used to a grip on my cams (350D then 30D) that the 5D just feels awful in my mitts without one :(

Will post pics soon :)

And another one is converted

Congratulations.. now your 17-40 will become a true ULTRA wide, instead of people putting it on a crop camera and saying "wow this is wide" oh no, you ain't seen nothin yet ;)

And if you need a nice standard zoom to take over the job of the 17-85 on the 5D, try the 24-105 f/4L IS USM. This is speaking as someone who has made the journey. The 24-105 is absolutely indispensable to me.

Coming from the 30D I don't think you will have much quibble over the 5D(unless it breaks).
Takes great full frame pictures.

Congratulations! Enjoy the new machine - I got mine last March to replace my MF film gear and have been loving it.

I don't have any of the grips - trying to keep the weight down due to a rotating flash bracket, the off-camera cord and 580ex adding a bit of mass on a long day - but I do use the hand strap on the right for security. Have you considered that instead of a grip? Just curious. - Stu

Yes it is a great camera and GET THE GRIP ASAP lol I love mine. I purchased the grip right along with the camera... And I am so glad I did. It's amazing.

I thought the same thoughts as you... Its like a whole new world through that viewfinder... I am in love with mine!

Think the shipping charges might be a bit prohibitive lol

you can charge 1500 to ship it, and 1500 to ship back, and almost pay for the camera itself!

well.. congrats... hope you like it, and i hope i will join your ranks soon!!
Do you use your 17-85 much since you hace the 17-40, and the 50?

I want to sell mine, and get those two lenses, becuase i am no longer happy with the IQ of the 17-85
