Major Price Reduction on 1Ds ?

Yesterday I was shooting bald eagles in the Squaw Creek Wildlife Sanctuary in nw Missouri and met a fellow Canon shooter. In the course of discussing the pros/cons of our big lenses, he mentioned that the 1Ds body was now available for about $3,000 by B&H.

That blew me away, as like most of you, I've been drooling at the thought of buying a 1Ds. I checked B&H's website when I returned to civilization last night and the price was in the typical $7,500 range.

Has anyone else heard of a major price reduction with the 1Ds? If so, where? I can only imagine that if a reduction is about to occur, then Canon must be ready to come out with something higher-end than the 1Ds?

Does anyone else have any information or have you heard any rumors?

He's on crack. The going price for the 1Ds is about $7K - $7.5K.

The guy must be quoting a price on the 1d..I have seen that for under $3000.

That's what I was thinking. $2995 is the going rate for the 1D.

I knew it sounded too good to be true.

The problem with digital is that the standard keeps raising all the time, creating a mindset of moving to something bigger and better (or faster and sharper) before our present equipment is barely out of the box. After I get a 1Ds the game will probably start all over again by wanting a new 3Ds (or whatever it will be called). Canon must know they're not only building great and innovative products, but also capitalizing on every photographer's dream of having the ultimate toy.

Does anyone else suffer from this same affliction?

The 1D was $2899 at B&H and $2700 at Adarma last week. I know because I just purchased a 2nd 1D to make sports Action a little eaiser.
