Which lens is that on the 30D? On the official page, the lens doesn't look like that so I know it's not the default lens for the 30D.

Is it the new 50L? That would be my guess.

Yup, it's the 50 f/1.2 L.

Sharpest price here in the neighborhood is around € 1800.

USA price? Around $1700 or so?

I think it's more likely that it's the EF 85mm f/1.2L II - which was announced around the same time as the 30D. The EF 50mm f/1.2L was announced more recently, along with the 400D (Rebel XTi).

Either way, it's a fast, expensive and heavy prime lens somewhere in the medium telephoto range (considering that it's on a 1.6x body).

i think it is the 85L if you look at the 30D on this page it is the same pic, and you can read the label on the lens

Indeed, it's the 85L.

A fantastic lens for portraits. Tends to be too long for inside shots with a crop camera. So I'm thinking about getting the new 50L as well.

In this thread, I posted a comparison pic with the nifty fifty:

Thanks. I looked it up on the canon site. Imagine it takes a lens like that to make an image closest to what the human eye would see!

I believe it sees more than your eye in a certain respect. Human eye aperture would be around f/2. But the dynamic range of the human eye is far better than that of any camera. Therefore, we still see better than the camera.

I looked it up on a German site with very sharp prices and they presell it for € 1269.
