Just a simple question,

Iv never been sure how to create borders around my photos in photoshop.

there must be many types of borders that can be applied ...?

(aside from making the canvas size a bit bigger than the photo size)

There are a ton of tutorials out there that deal with this. Spend some time with your good friend google.

This one (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=75175) always keep popping up on this question. I have never used it but it seems to be popular among the users here.

There are a lot of plugins for frames and edges for photoshop. Some are free, some cost. Do a search on photoshop plugins and you will find a bunch.

There are also a few frame actions inlcuded with Photoshop. Look under the actions pallet. You may have to load the sample actions to see them.
