View Full Version : Photoshop CS: Thumbnails in file browser are invisible

I was wondering if anybody else has experienced this problem where all the thumbnails for a particular folder in the file browser window has just diappeared for no reason at all. If I go to another folder, the thumbnails are displayed OK but when I go back to this "problem" folder, the thumbnails just aren't displayed. The only way to get them back is by selecting the thumbnail. And it's not instantaneous, either. There's a couple of seconds delay from selection to display and a message of "generating preview" is displayed on the status panel at the bottom of the window. It seems the only way I can get all the thumbnails in this folder to display again is by individually selecting each and every thumbnail location, and this can get to be pretty tedious when we're talking of images in the hundreds.

Selecting all the invisible thumbnails doesn't help here either as nothing happens when I do that.

In the PS Browser check to make sure you have "Flagged and Unflagged Files" checked.

Thanks for your response but, nope, it's not that. That was one of the first things I checked before I posted this problem.

I think it has something to do with the cache of file browser but I'm not certain. But, as mysteriously as the thumbnails disappeared, they similarly reappeared again a day later. There was a lot of disk I/O going on when the thumbnails were being refreshed. And this only seems to happen to thumbnails of RAW files. Weird!

I had the same when I moved a whole load of files in explorer. CS browser then wen berserc as itr re-built the thumbnail cache. Not sure yet whether I like the CS browser and would prefer it if it was a seperate window rather than being part of CS. Would be nice if you could just start the browser on its own too.
