I am about to invest in an EOS 10D, changing from another digital camera manufacturer, and upgrading for me. I shoot almost exclusively landscape, a seriously passionate non-professional. I have two specific questions, and would be grateful for any input:
1. If I put the 2x telextender on a 70-200 mm EF lens (which I understand is 112-320 with 1.6x factor), do I get a full range of tele-extension, that is 140-400 (224-640). That is, does the telextender allow for zoom function, or does it become a fixed focal length at the top end?
2. Given the multiplication factor, what lens(es) are recommended for (a) "standard" and (b) macro? For instance, would it be repetitive for me to purchase a 50 mm "standard" and a 50 mmm macro? If I purchased the 100 mm lens, would it function as a macro given the multiplication factor?
