Nice clean shots with the second one getting most of my attention for the contrast, colors and detail. The profile shows more of the bird's attributes as well in the second shot. The first is nice but could have perhaps benefitted from a little fill flash to make it pop from the BG. Nice in any case. What are the vertical lines in the BG in both images?

Gary: The vertical lines are due to the cage these guys were enclosed in. They are part of one of the exhibits at the Healesville Sanctuary. I had to take these shots through a glass viewing panel, hence the reason why no flash was used.

They are a very attractive bird, although to me with the black eye band and the shape of the bill, they look a little grumpy.
