Does anyone have any of the portable Thermal Dye printers. I am thinking about getting one to take with me on our Soccer tournament weekends. I have parents that are asking me if I am going to sell the pictures that I take. I don't know if I will or not, but if I do, should I consider the Thermal Dye Printers or just go to Sams Club or Wal mart? All advise appreciated. Thanks

Actually, I am thinking of ordering the Canon CP300 dye-sub printer. Pretty nice little machine and you can run it using pictbridge right off your camera. I was checking it out and it looks like Dell has the best price. The prints are kinda pricey though at about 50 cents for a 4x6 when you can get 4x6 photo prints at Costco for 19 cents all day long. Pretty handy little machine though.

How about canon i960 and a voltage inverter ( $24 for 2 at Costco) to plug into your car's cigarette lighter. It is a lot bulkier but will probably be more versatile. The i960 will print from the camera directly but might be slower than regular.
Just a different approach.

Well, yeah I guess that might work, except he'll want to print these out in the field where his car is not. And the dye-sub will print a tougher photo than the i960. Perfect for when they are passed around among dirty little hands. Dropped on the wet grass, etc.
Now if I was out on the road, then taking a i960 or equivalent would make sense to have that back at the motel room and then bring back your full-bleed 8.5x11.5 prints the next day.

I am so GLAD that I found this GREAT FORUM. I never thought about the converter. If I got the converter, then I can take my Epson 825 (GREAT PRINTER by the way). HMM lets see.. Printer in the front seat, both my soccer players (daughters) in the back seat (with thier soccer equipment on thier laps), our luggage on top of the car. MY CAMERA EQUIPMENT in the trunk, with TOP of the LINE FOAM all around it (so as not to damage my equipment). Where do I put the wife? I am going to miss her
:-)))
