I'll be getting a 10D in febuary i hope but i think i want to get an EOS flash right now for my rebel 2000 (then my 10D when it is time).
I honestly dont know how much i should be spending but i figure i could get a good one for $200 or so.
Can y'all just point me to the right direction. Brand names, models etc.

You have 3 main choices:
Sigma EF-500 DG Super (~$190)
Sigma (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=263432&is=REG)
Canon 420EX Speedlite (~$160)
420-EX (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=206436&is=GREY)
Canon 550EX Speedlite (~$300)
550-EX (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=164263&is=GREY)
In my opinion, you really can't go wrong with any of the three. If money is not a deciding factor, go with the 550-EX!

Metz makes a compatible flash too from what I read. I just bought the Canon 550EX. Didn't even consider the others. It's incredible! Worth the extra $$$.

Thanks alot guys!
I think i'll just wait until i get hte 10D then, i was hoping a $200 flash would be high end. It's not that i'm cheap, trust me...i pretty much want to get the best that i can (in every aspect of my life). And i also want to get my 10D ASAP. As such i may wait, it could be a veyr good way to spend my tax refund :-).
Then i'll invest in a high powered lens...then cool it for a bit. heh...

If you don't need manual flash control, and can deal with a maximum distance at f/1.0, ISO 100, of 42 meters instead of 55 meters, then the 420EX is more then adequate. The 550EX is a great flash, more powerful, more versatile, more expensive. If you can't afford it, go with the 420EX.
