View Full Version : Comments on 2 Wedding Pict?

As a gift to a friend of mine, I decided to put together an album chronicle-ing her wedding over several months. Plus it gave me a chance to really put the G3 thru it's first *trial-run* so to speak.

The first one is during her wedding gown fitting. The lighting was a bit off, and I didn't have an appropriate flash at the time. Her eyes were closed, but she has such a wonderful profile, and this was (IMO) a great shot, that I decided to work with it, regardless.

The natural lighting was a bit dark, and I had bracket'd the shot and combined them in PS. In the end, I decided a nice sepia tone would make the photograph, and worked it that way.

The second one is during her wedding, and is the throwing bouquet next to the cake. I was taking pictures of the cake, when this caught my eye.

Comments and critiques would be welcome.

Thanks.

Re the sepia wedding photo.
I think the photo is very good indeed.
As Melissa has excellent posture and sits very straight,
I feel that the counter clockwise tilt of the picture works against you.
As her pose is rather stiff if you tilted the pic upright or even slightly to the right, I feel that it would look more natural.

A personal point. I'm not a fan of drop shadows.
For me they make the outline of the image blurred and distracting.
Personally I like to enjoy the image and not have my eyes pulled away
by gimmicky shadows.

Good photo

Hmm. I didn't even notice the tilt of the picture. If anything, I had thought it might be tilted a little forward.

I'll try and play with it, and see what I can do.

Thank you.

Hi again
Check the vertical lines on the window frame and you'll
see the backward lean.
Often when one looks at a photo for a long time one no longer sees all the details.

Here's a good tip with any photo one works on .
After working on it for a while, flip it horizontally to look
at the mirror image.
You'll be amazed how different it looks.
Artists do this a lot with their paintings, using a mirror.

Another tip. To check verticals or horizontals like a horizon, use the rectangle selection tool and place one side
of the rectangle on the line that you want to check.
This will tell you at once if the line is out or not.
Then Control D to remove the selection. (in PS)
