picture of my sister and baby

Would love any comments on this picture. I no it's not that good, one thing I cut half the babies hand out of the picture, wish I had seen that before I snapped the picture.

It's a very special picture to her anyway the baby in picture is her grand baby her pride and joy!
to me the picture showed love between grandmother and baby.

I did a bit of touch up in PS clone the window out that was in BG and turn the photo into B/W seems to me I like the B/W better so what do you all think?

The black and white version is good, though I find the mottled background a bit distracting. The background also seems to contribute to a muddy tone of the picture as the background is almost the same tone as the subjects skin tones.

Perhaps a bright or dark background would push some snap into the picture.

I don't mind the babies hand being on the edge of the photo, but the baby is low in the frame. Perhaps a complementary crop at the top might balance it out...
