Zoombrowser seems to be a popular topic here but I did not seem to find my particular problem.
I am the very recent proud owner of an A70.
I am running W98SE.
I have the Solution Disk Ver 12.1.
I can connect to the camera via USB and other software (such as Corel photohouse) can acquire photos.
I attempted to load the cannon software on the CD. I sucessfully loaded all the other software except ZB. The installation for ZB failed. I tried to reinstall the software and it said that an older version exists and did I want to upgrade. I answered yes and yet again the installation failed. I have tried all sorts of combinations of uninstall and reinstall with the same result. As far as I can tell there is no reference to zoombrowser anywhere on the PC. The directory does not exist. I had a scan of of the registry and there is no reference to "zoombrowser".
I tried loading the software on another older PC to esnsure that the CD is not fauilty I and it sucessfully loaded (but that PC does not have USB)

I can get the stuff off the camera as I have a compact flash reader but I would prefer to get the photos stright off the camera without taking the CF card out all of the time as the CF openning on the camera looks rather flimsy and I fear it wil break.
I will try almost anything. I am at the point where I think I will have to rebuild the PC (yet again) :-;
