Here are a couple from my Sunday walk at Ingleton. This spot was the first place I ever took a RAW image and I wanted to return with the 5D to soo if I could improve on my composition. There is no waterfall at this spot but I love the way the river flows. The damp weather preceding this shot brought out the colours and CPL did the rest.
Which do you prefer, I admit number two does not follow the rule of thirds but I don't care :) ?

Exposure is excellent. The first photo is outstanding. The low angle draws my eye up the stream and deep into the forest. Nicely done!

Both photos have a nice richness of colour, but I prefer #1 as the stream leads you back into the photo whereas #2 is predominantly the still water.

Cheers guys. It was at this spot that an annoying passer by decided to make a fool of me infront of his friends. I was crouched down waiting for the sun to go in as it was casting bright spots through the trees. He asked "What are you waiting for?"
"The sun to go in." I answered.
"Why?"
"Better for the eposure!" Leave me alone.
"You seen a Dipper or a bird or something?" voice becomming mocking.
"Nope!"
"So what you taking a picture of?" My goodness how I amuse my friends.
"The river!"
"THE RIVER? Isn't that a little daft? You're sat next to it, you can see it perfectly well and experience the fresh air!" not to mention the large idiotic man in a red anorak.
"Ah, but when I am back in Leeds and I have printed what will be a fabulous rendition of this scene I can wake up to this view every day! So if I want to spend an extra few minutes absorbing the atmosphere and recording it for posterity, why shouldn't I?"
"Well I still do......" walking quickly away he hardly managed to finish his sentence.

I guess it is mine too but those yellow leaves in the second shot had to be taken :)

Beautiful shots! It looks like you were standing in the water to take them. I like both shots, #1 for the compostion and #2 for the colors.

Water is a little deep to stand in and it does rather sweep around the bend, would make a great shot if I could though, from the water line :)

Neil, it's not hard to tell you've mastered this style of shooting, absolutley gorgeous.
The water looks as if it's frozen over, very nice indeed.

Beautiful shots Neil. Can't really pick a favorite though as I like the increased amount of water in the second but you loose the rock formation (upper left corner) that is so nice in the first.

Lovely shots Neil, I particularly like how you managed to tame the brighter reflection in the FG.

Thanks Les.
For information (if anyone is wondering) this is the reason for the 20+ second exposure (and waiting for the sun to go in) as I needed more blur, on shorter exposures the foreground glare stood out like a sore thumb against the dark water.

Lovelly images.
While I like the comp on the 1st better, I think the 2nd is also very pleasing and does, to some extent, follow the rule of thirds (not that it would be absolutely necessary).

Admit it, Neil, you sprinkled those leaves ever so perfectly along the bank before taking these shots. And that is REALLY why the passerby was giving you crap!:lol::lol:
I prefer the first one. http://bestsmileys.com/thumbs/7.gif
