Hi All
Went and had a look at the Daybreaker rally in the Manawatu on Saturday and took some rally photos for the first time. They have just been resized from the camera.
C & C welcome

Nice.
Almost a bit too low on the shutter speeds :D

Good series Tracie! Suggest you leave some space in front of the cars "to move into" That silver Corolla brings back some neat memories ;-)

Good choice of shutter speeds far to many people shoot car shots to fast. images are really flat though the colours need to pop and you would have some really good shots

Hey, I recognize car #1. They were North of the equator in December 2005 at the Ramada Express Rally (but in a pre-'06 model). Nice pics, rally isn't the easiest to get good results from. It took me a couple rallys before I was happy with my pics.

Great sharp shots, especially considering the shutter speed. I really need an in between lens like yours, my 120-300 is simply too heavy for up close, smooth pans for lowest shutter speed. I get best results at 1/250th to 1/320th for frontal three-quarter shots, but side on pans, is ok all the way down to 1/60th

Hi All
Thanks for all the comments :) I am certainly learning heaps from these forums! I haven't done any post processing on the shots - so I guess I could make the colours 'pop' a bit more?
As for car 1, unfortunately it ended up off the road about 3km after this point - we were driving out when we came upon cars stopped all over the road - we jumped out just in time to see it being pulled back onto the road - a real shame as he was coming second at the time :(

I have played with a one of the shots - might have gone a bit too far?? Is this a bit better? worse?
