These are some shots of Bubion, in the Sierra Nevada in Spain. Some parts of this village are supposed to date back 500 years. More recent construction has kept faithfully to the original style of the village. Even down to the roofs being covered in gravel. The original roofs where made by laying slabs of slate on wooden beams, then putting progressively smaller stones ontop until the roof is sealed. It is quite unerving looking up and seeing these rocks above you that look like they could drop on your head at anytime.

The newer buildings use more traditional building techniques, and then put the gravel ontop to keep the authentic look.

Thanks Pttenn. Yes it was a very cool area with a lot of interesting stuff, including springs with naturally carbonated water, fresh and cold straight out of the mountain. You know, that stuff we pay a fortune for in bottles, and here it is just spilling out onto the rocks. :D

Thanks fi, I had to be very careful that I lined the camera up with the wall to ensure that it didn't look skewif.
