First pic with my new Sigma 70-200 f2.8
Taken through a very dirty patio door. Pouring rain all day. Always happens when I buy a new piece of glass :)

I edited the picture and it ends up in Canucks reply but does not show in my original post.
Am using Pbase...anyone have any tips on embedding from Pbase?
Will buy coffee and doughnuts for the first...:)

Ian,
Posting a pic I found was rather difficult. Where is the pic phyiscally located, first? It has to be on the 'net somewhere for one. You can't just post it off ur hard drive. For example for me to imbed this pic of this one of Tenby Beach: http://images.fotopic.net/?id=2162050

I type "ZZZhttp://images.fotopic.net/?id=2162050" and that imbeds the pic. Just ignore the X box in the address.

This forum's Help Page (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/help.php) cna be a help.

But the image does have to be somewhere on the 'net. PBase should be fine - lots of people link to PBase images. Just browse to your image on PBase/wherever, and copy the link in the location bar. Paste that link directly into your message here, and it will display.

Mike,
It is a good combination, just not in that order at the same time. The coffee and pastry go together. The beer can be for the meal at the pub.

Ian,
You are in the UK, right? I'm in "The East of England." Send me an e-mail via the forum and we can sort it.

Canuck is ROTFLH(is)AO! (Talking about myself in the 3rd person!) :D :D :D

Ian,
I'm afraid that you might have to wait a little for the coffee/beer/pastry as i live in Montreal Canada. However it is in the stars that I make a pilgrimage to the home of my ancestors (Croydon) in the next year or so. I'll settle up the account at such time and at the place of your choosing.
Had to do a little creative editing in Pbase to get the proper embed but it worked and I still have all my hair (or at least what I woke up with this morning)

CDS,
It was even hard to shoot from the front porch it was raining and blowing so hard. Damn Canadian winters!
Tried shooting out the back door but the sparrows and squirrels buggered of when they saw me. The are in the process of forming a union and are going to be demanding model pay as well as all rights to published prints. What is this world comimg to???
I think i'll sneak down the block tomorrow morning and hide in the neighbours hedge.

You can't embed Webshots links. They don't like it.

lol,.. it's true,. early on (Jr. High School) a freinds parents left there two sons alone (in a mansion in Newport no less!)

... well it was summer,. and we had a wicked party. For many of us it was our first our second time ever drinking.. (I was just out of 7th grade...)

Well the following morning we could not find Joseph,. (the elder of the two sons)

Eventually we found him ... where else? passed out in the hedge! BUT he was still unconcious! we couldn't wake him up and he was stone cold! (it WAS AUGUST!)

We took him to the hospital,. and he had Hypothermia! In August!

Tom,
Was out yesterday trying to find leg warmers for Gitzo. Ever try finding just 3? Damn things are sold in pairs. Of course I could buy 2 pairs and turn the fourth one into a night cap for him.
BTW here is the result of this weekends deer safari:

Ian:
That is a lovely picture. It heartens me to see that you are not wasting that lovely new lens of yours. I am immediately reminded of one large difference between the U.S. and Canada, though. The sign has no bullet holes in it.

Incidentally, all this talk about Gitzo and his three legs does remind me of an old joke. I don't remember the details of it (which are proabably the funny bits), but it has to do with a farmer and a 3-legged pig. Anyway, the punch line was something like, "Hell, this pig saved our lives. We couldn't just eat him all at once." Wish I could remember the the whole thing, but that's one of the penalties of advanced age.

Thanks for looking out for Gitzo's welfare in such thoughtful ways.

Tom

Tom,
That sign was in front of the local game wardens house. Signs further down the road looked like Swiss cheese.
Gitzo told me he has a cousin with the same physical troubles as he has. Never told me that it was a pig. Maybe between the two of them I can make it further than the end of the block.
If not, I have a smoker out the back.

One day a man drove by a farm and saw a three-legged pig. The man went up to the farmer and said, "Excuse me sir, but why does that pig only have 3 legs?"

"Well," said the farmer, "that there pig is very special. One time my wife was cooking something she stepped out of the kitchen and it caught on fire. No one in the house knew about it but the pig and he saved me, my wife, and my 2 kids."

"That's amazing sir but why does that pig only have three legs?" said the man.

"Then there was that time the pig saw a big storm coming and we didn't. The pig ran into the house and dragged us out to the storm cellar. If it weren't for that pig we would all be dead."

"But still, that doesn't explain why the pig only has 3 legs."

"And I remember the time my youngest son was stuck up in a tree but I was too far away to hear him scream. The pig came running towards me and led me to where he was."

"Well, that is miracle but how come that pig only has 3 legs?" the man said quite annoyed at this point.

"Well," said the farmer, "with a pig that special...you don't want to eat him all at once."

Guy driving down a country road gets passed by a 3 legged chicken doing about 50mph.
Guy is amazed. Follows chicken up a lane way.
Guy sees a farmer standing by a barn and stops. Chicken rockets by both of them.
Guy says to the farmer "That your chicken?"
Farmer- "Yup"
Guy- "How come he has three legs?"
Farmer - " Well now what ifin you invite your friend over for a nice chicken supper? You want a leg, the missus wants a leg, and your buddy wants a leg. This here chicken solves all the problems. Three legs, three happy folk."
Guy -"Great idea. How do they taste?"
Farmer - " Don't know...never caught one."
Happy New Year all

samdring,
I see another person that likes Wales! Cool! I will eventually post some pics of Manorbier Castle and other bits. I also did womething really daft. The lighting was pants and forgor to take it off of F2.8, so most pics have a very small DOF. That really sucks! I used the Sigma 120-300 F2.8EX for that trip and as it was, it was broken in Welsh! Yes, it had the very first pics taken with it in Wales, at Tenby Beach about 15 min prior to that one I posted.
