I'm trying to start a business as a fine art photographer and have a few galleries willing to handel my work. I'm lucky enough to currently be mentored by a world renound fine art photographer and he's been suggesting I persue graduate school and get a MFA. Have any of you had experiences with this? What is fine art grad school like? I don't really have an interest in doing much other than photography, that's why I'm hesitant, hell I'm not even a fine art major in college I program computers... But apparently he thinks I could get in based on my portfolio so I've been giving it some thought, I just don't really know what to expect.

I think you should do the due diligence and research the details af MFA programs - it costs nothing but a little time and you will have what you need to guide yourself- in my opinion, when someone you respect and admire, you should listen.

You website image IMO, especially the Norwich State Hostpital, are excellent.

Good luck,

Dennis

Many fine art photographers teach at the college level as their main source of income, and for that you will almost certainly have to have an MFA degree. Also, at the higher levels of museum/fineart photo world an MFA will give you considerable credibility if you want to pursue grants and fellowships.
