I don't have the funds for a Canon ring flash. (need to get that out in the open)

Ok, here is what I have to work with :

XT
380EX
430EX
Omni diffuser

Lens : 50mm 1.8, Sigma 105, Tamron 28-75

I am trying to build myself a little setup for taking macro or portrait type shots.

What else do I need? I know I need some kind of bracket that allows me to get the flash near the front of the lens. Maybe this one?

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=325232&is=REG&addedTroughType=search#

(Is there a type in case I want to mount 2 flashes on one bracket and increase the output power like for fashion/portrait type work?)

Next would be an off shoe cord correct? If so, which one will I need for that? Can anyone recommend a brand/model?

Anything else I am missing? Many thanks in advance.

here's what I use:

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=15544&is=REG&addedTroughType=search

Add the 430EX, Diffuser, and the off shoe camera cord #2 ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=12972&is=REG&addedTroughType=search ) and your set.

You wont need 2 flashes with the 430EX.. it will be be more than enough power.

Both of these taken with the setup mentioned above.

The reason I mentioned using two flashes is for portrait/fashion work so I can get that "blown out" look when doing up portraits and such.-

you wont want to use the ringflash for portraits, if you want to use 2 flashes you probably want the 550EX or 580EX and use it with your 430EX as master/slave.

That is a definite possibility. Think that will give my models the blown out look to them? I really can't afford to spend $2000 on one of those huge ring lights that most fashion photographers use.

I thought this setup would give me some leeway by combining some macro work with it as well.

You dont need to spend $2000.

Check out www.alienbees.com
Thay have 320Watt strobes for $290 shipped, plus another $30 for a stand. You'll be set.

well I went and bought my off shoe cord for the flash, but the camera shop didn't have any brackets that actually rotated to put the flash next to the lens like in the link I provided. They only kept the flash positioned above the camera (typical style)
