These photos were shot at the Ontario Butterfly Conservatory on the Labour Day weekend. Aside from the butterflies, I saw literally dozens of high-end cameras, but unfortunately no P.O.T.N. straps. ;)

The next two aren't really macro photos, but I'll share anyways. This particular butterfly just wouldn't leave us alone... it rode around on my girlfriend's shoulder for over an hour!

Here another butterfly joins in for a ride! At this point, about 20 people were taking her photo, hence the reason why she's blushing. :)

funniest photos to get in these places are when butterflies land on the end of a lens. Not suprised you saw so many dslrs/prosumers - the digital age has made 'high end' photography much more democratic. Without the cost of having films developed everyone can take advantage of their performance.
Like 1 & 4, flash too harsh on the middle two I think.

Thanks for the comment MagicallyDelicious! She didn't much like it on her head either... said it was very "tickly". ;)

I'll admit that this shot was somewhat rushed, since neither of us were sure how long the butterfly would stick around. After we realised that it wasn't going anywhere, I was able to dial in my settings a bit better (we also moved away from the hordes of onlookers), and #4 was one of the resulting frames... we just got lucky that another one landed once I was ready. Thanks for the constructive feedback!
