View Full Version : CANON 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM with teleconverter?

i apologise if there are tons of these types of topics but i cant see one that fully answers my question.
im going to be buying this lens possibly before christmas and was hoping that a teleconverter will work with this and a canon 350D body. i know/think the official canon ones wont be compatable and i will lose AF but are there any other ones which will be compatable. (hoping not as expensive as the canon ones :D )

i believe almost any other canon TC will be compatable. but it might lower the image qulaity below it being worth it. try looking for the tamron or kenko. they should work for what you are looking for. although i really wouldnt expect great things from it.

so you think the IQ would really suffer by alot and be really noticable?
was checking out your gear list. got enough L's in there :rolleyes: lol

(hoping not as expensive as the canon ones :D )I use the Kenko Pro 3000 DG with my 70-300 and I'm able to achieve autofocus. IQ isn't too bad, either. This one was taken (I think) wide open at 300 with the 1.4X

looks good mate. still thinking whether i should go for the canon 70-300 or save a little more and get the bigma 50-500.
