Hi,
Sorry if this seems like a n00b question, but do you have a set of instructions for doing a fresh install of EE2?
I noticed everywhere the word Upgrade - but i'd like to start fresh :)
Thanks.

I'll try to do a simple database dump type fresh installer before weekend.

I've just changed my hosts, and will wait out for this 2.01 download.
I like the professional look of it.

Hi Pekka!
What's the status of this? I also would like to start fresh instead of installing de 1.x version and then updating...
Thanks!

I installed 1.5 (no pictures but did do a backup) to create the database, then deleted all the 1.5 files and loaded up 2.0 did the upgrade then loaded up 2.1 and then configured. works a treat.

Hi Pekka!
Do you think of making an EE 2.01 fresh install package, with all later minor updates and bug fixes of version 2.0? Lots of us are just still waiting for this confirmation to set up our galleries accordingly. Thanks!
Sincerely,

I can't speak for Pekka's schedule, but my impression is that he's very busy at the moment. It may be more useful to have a wrap up of the various patches floating around (as well as Pekka's work on debugging EE Commerce) into a 2.02 release before releasing a fresh installer, but I appreciate that many people have a need for a fresh installer.
Right now, the only way is to install 1.5 RC4 and upgrade the installation straight away.

What would happen if someone had an empty schema dump of 1.5, could that be imported into a new database and then 2.0 installed? Would it work?

It's so long since I've run the EE 1.5 installer - what questions does it ask before creating the database?
I believe Pekka was intending to start from a dump, but the dump needs some customisation once it's loaded into your MySQL database as there's some site specific things set up in there. Some people would be happy loading a dump (which may as well be made after upgrading from 1.5 to 2.01) then making any necessary edits using phpMyAdmin or similar, but others will want a piece of PHP to walk them through the whole installation process in their web browser.
I believe the PHP based solution was the one that Pekka is intending to implement; it's just a question of time.

Of course, I hadn't thought of that. I was just idly wondering if one persion created a schema dump then could all of the new installs be based on that, rather than having to go the install "1.5 first" route

Ah, time. Pekka was going to try to get a simple dump install done about 6 weeks ago, but he must have a lot of demands on his time as usual. (No critisism intended, we all have our lifes to live)

Ok, so i went the "install 1.5 first" route, and it worked perfectly... so if you need this up and running asap, its the way to go and it works without any issues...
Good luck!

Did you allready made an SQL database? and put al the needed settings in the files that should have those?
Other wise try to PM Pekka to ask for an status update of the fresh install.
But remind that Pekka is an VERRY VERRY VERRY busy man. (we are so lucky that he made time for this project, I think this cann't be told enough)
