A few pictures of a Catalina hydroplane, built in 1943. It was initially active in the Canadian air force before fighting forest fires... It came to Geneva for a show of old car, boats, planes, ... and has exceptionally
been aloud to land on the lake (it is normally forbidden ;-) )

Very cool:cool: I've seen that aircraft several time but never landing on water:D I like #3 the best though with that great backdrop.

The PBY-5 Catalina is one of my top 5 favorite WWII aircraft. You've done a great job capturing it. A bit lower shutter would get better blur on the prop on some, but #4 is darn close to perfect. I love #5 but the Cat gets lost in the architecture. Maybe you can photoshop the Cat coming in for landing over the buidings. :)
Thanks for sharing! Nice set!

very nice!
the 'cat always sems to me to be a difficult aircraft to shoot, dut to its big boat-like underside, but you've caught it very well in a beautiful setting :)

Thanks! The plane did a few touch&go before a true landing... The backdrop is the Jura mountains.

Thank you for your nice comment. It was my first time trying to capture a prop plane. I Knew that my shutter speed was to high to get a nice prop blur, so I slowed it down to 1/200. But as I had no monopod and not a very sharp lens, I took most of the shots with a higher speed to be sure to have a sharp picture ;-)
very nice!

Thank you! It is a nice plane with quite a special shape

Thanks for your very nice comments Marie. I used the 75-300 above f6.3 and usually slightly below 300mm (260 mm for #3 and slightly above 100 for #5)

Excellent shots! 3 & 4 are my favorites. 5 is very interesting, may be if there was more water showing between the Cat and the buildings.
One minor thing, a hydroplane is typically a boat. The Catalina is a Seaplane or amphibian.

Thanks for the correction. English is not my native language. It is sometimes difficult to find the right word ;-)
