Had to clean his tank out, so I sat him down for a quick session before he tried hopping away.

yeah they're fat buggers. Their common name is an ornate horned frog, their nickname is "Pacman Frog"... guess why :)

They're pretty much stomachs with mouthes. They can't move around very well and hunt by burrying themselves under the forest floor with only their head sticking out. When a bug or mouse comes by, they lunge out, eat it, and go back to being burried. They're not exactly your athletic or agile animals ;)

They're big buggers though, this guy still fits in the palm of my hand but when he reaches full adult size he'll probably be about 9 inches from mouth to tail (they have a little stub). Considering they're about as wide as they are long, that's a big frog.

And you heard that right, they eat mice as part of their regular diet. I'd never feed a live animal to another (well, except for bugs), but he's eaten a frozen mouse (thawed of course) and it's something else to watch.

Thanks for the comment :D

I read the title and looked at the photo. That's a nice tart I thought, Kiwifruit and strawberry perhaps. Nice thin crusty casing. But no wait...a pie with eyes.!!

I bet he feels a bit conspicuous on that white sheet and not camouflageed in his natural surroundings.

Great photo.

nice little info on your little "bugger" :) great shot as well, the colors are amazing! So I guess getting him to pose wasn't a problem, since he's soooo lazy huh?

That's really cute! I thought it was some kind of exotic dessert at first!

i think a great shot if you got a macro would be his eye's, they look pretty awsome on their own.

I think he felt a little conspicuous, but then again I think their default behaviour when something happens that they don't quite grasp is to "sit still and wait for something to happen", so he behaved alright ;)

Here he is in his more natural surroundings.

He hopped a little, but after a moment he just sat still waiting for me to go away. I only had him out on the sheet about 2 minutes at most because I didn't want to put him under too much stress which can be bad for their health. More or less I took about 5 shots, this was the best, and then I put him into a temporary container where he could relax while I cleaned his tank.

That's really cute! I thought it was some kind of exotic dessert at first!

It's funny how many people thought he was food at first, hehe.

He's less animated than you think, hehe ;)

He's got more or less two expressions. Nuetral, and hungry. This is what hungry looks like
