Hi. Thanks to all on this board who are helping me learn how to use my A70. While I know how to adjust flash intensity on my SLR, the point-and-shoot concept is new for me. I know that flash intensity can be doctored (I use Paint Shop Pro) but this is time-consuming.

So, I'm wondering what tips people have. What mode do they use? I find that reducing flash output by 1/3 only works if you are VERY close to a subject. Am I to assume that using a wide-open aperture (2.8) I will get more natural/ambient light, thus perhaps less flash in the mix? I have tested this but cannot tell from the results (perhaps I am blind).

I have had some success by just getting much further away from the subject.

Tips from more experienced users are appreciated. Thank you...and Happy New Year.

Ahhh, the all too powerful internal flash. I have taken paper and placed it over the flash. Not to diffuse the flash too much though. You'll just have to experimant.
