Hey guys, I am new to selling my photographs, so i dont know what to charge for this event. A few weeks ago i shot for a band in which i know some of the people that are in it. I did this for free and they used my photos on their website and myspace. They now asked me to shoot their next show, which they said they would pay me for. I did this and came out with approx. 30 images for them. If i give them the rights to these photos, how much should I charge? They are friends of mine, but I do want to get my moneys worth if you know what i mean. Thanks for any input.

I know I did a shoot from some close friends of mine, I just let them decide how to pay me since we all were such good friends. They ended up taking me out to lunch, buying me the 50 1.8, buying me beer at the show, than letting me crash at their place. I don't have the hear to really tell friends a certain fee unless I needsomethign specific for the event IE the 50mm cuz of low light...Personally I think you should do the same, maybe this will help you get your name out as well. :) Good luck, and be sure to share the shots.

Yea i agree with that totally, but then again they arent my closest friends, i rarely hang out with them, they are just guys i know from high school. They are making money doing what they like, I think i should get a cut for providing my services by promoting them with my photos. They are a decent band too, they played on a smaller stage on warped tour this summer, so its not like they are broke. I guess I should just go by what you said, and perhaps let them decide how much. Any other opinions?

Well all they are going to want from me is to give them digital files for now to use on their sites and to pay for my services for being there. If they wanted prints I would do that too, but thats not what they want right now.

well if they want 30 pics choose a price per pic.
reflecting the time you have taken to take it, pp it ect then just x30. ???
Then maybe an extra small amount for the actual session?
